Robert Welch, who founded The John Birch Society (JBS) in 1958, warned then of the long-range plan “to induce the gradual surrender of American sovereignty, piece by piece and step by step, to various international organizations – of which the United Nations is the outstanding but far from only example – while Communists are simultaneously and equally getting complete working control of such organizations.”
